From a young age, music has been an integral part of my life, and I was involved in multiple choirs simultaneously during my school years. Though I sang a diverse range, it was only when I moved to Greece that I had the opportunity to pursue music professionally. Joining a busy covers band, gigging in clubs, open air concerts and festivals, allowed me to explore various genres and gain valuable experience. Upon returning to Ireland, I immersed myself in college and work, singing less over time and developing nervousness about public performances. However, relocating to Leitrim and joining a music course reignited my passion. The encouragement received helped me overcome initial fears, and I rediscovered the joy of singing. Jazz and Blues have always captivated me, influencing my musical preferences even in earlier bands. Collaborating with the talented musician, Chris has been a rewarding experience, and we aspire to share our music with an even broader audience.
Over the years, my passion for jazz has evolved, initially inspired by the enchanting sounds of gypsy jazz and Django Reinhardt. Progressing through the swinging tunes of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, my musical journey has led me to explore the complexities of Be Bop, learning from greats like Wes Montgomery and Grant Green. Hailing from Queensland, Australia, my musical adventures spanned various genres, from a demented originals band to playing sitar for Kirtan mantra singers. Now residing in County Leitrim, Ireland, I frequently participate in local traditional Irish music sessions with my banjo. While the guitar remains my primary instrument, I also play tenor banjo, mandolin, oud, and sitar. Collaborating with the talented Anne O'Brien brings me immense joy, and we look forward to sharing our love for music with you.
